Buon Natale!

Mountain outside my window

Hi everyone - I apologize for not posting sooner but I've had a surprise up my sleeve for the past week or so and could not post anything about where I would be for Christmas! In absolute, unbelievable secrecy, I arranged to fly to Sicily to surprise my aunt, uncle and cousins on Christmas eve. They read this blog so I wasn't able to talk about the craziness of the week before I left.

But here I am, the surprise was wonderful and I am happy to be with my family in the warmth and sun of sicily -- with a mountain view on one side, and a view of the sea and the islands of Favignana and Marrettimo on the other. In typical fashion, the holiday cooking was full of excitement and chaos -- but I can always handle it here because I know at any moment when it becomes too much they will gladly shoo me away and tell me I've been doing too much.

Once you see this you know where you are! I have been feasting on traditional Sicilian holiday food and enjoying every minute of it. I will post more but right now I have to get out to the market before it closes! Hope you are all relaxing and enjoying the holidays as well.

(I am lacking photo editing software so bear with the mishmoshed sizes of photos for the next week.)
