Today I'm remembering Klaus, a truly unique individual whom I loved and admired, along with scores of other people. I loved to cook for him; he was the most appreciative, the first one to appear at the table, and there were never leftovers when he was around. His gentle, intuitive strength finally failed him after a 4 year battle with MSA, a most neglected and misunderstood disease. But he would want us to remember the positive things; the way he captured faces in a photograph; his stories; his love of art and history; his sense of humor; his blue eyes. So, I'm listening to America and The Girl from Ipanema in honor of your birthday. Wherever you are, Happy Birthday -- we miss you Dad.
Sorry, I know it seems like every post is in rememberance of the dead. Last year was a really, really, really bad year. After writing those last few entries after Klaus' death, I gave up my Outbound blog. (in case you're wondering):
